Childers’ Airport Reunion

I have known this couple since I started my first job at the age of 16. We used to all work at In-n-Out Burger together in Yuba City. A lot has happened since then; the two have traveled the country because of Joey’s job in the military.

Joey had received a new opportunity in his career and had to spend seven months in training. COVID-19 complicated things and Meagan was not able to visit him during these seven months.

So when Meagan reached out to me to ask if I was interested in photographing their airport reunion, you can imagine my excitement! These two had been separated for seven months and I was given the opportunity to capture this special moment.

When I think of military couples reuniting like this, I think back to older days. I thought that black-and-white captured this moment and emotions so well.

After the reuniting moment, we went up the escalator to the sky bridge where we found the most beautiful lighting! I just loved capturing the joy in their hearts and the sparkles in their eyes.

I hope nothing but the best for this happy couple and am excited for all the future has in store for them!
